Abundance is a word we like to hear, the abundance of food, clothes, shelter, further wealth and comfort. The feeling of abundance of anything brings with it apathy towards it. This has proven with heritage in our country. We have plenty or should we say we had plenty. There is nothing wrong in this. its normal human psyche, when we have more than enough we assume it will be there always, there will be no dearth. We do not care for it.
Is this because of many centuries of foreign rules, the oppression and the slavery? The past can be pleasing or infuriating, good or bad. Whatever it may be, it’s ours. We should learn to admire, learn, walk forward and progress.
The change and adaptation is character of Mother Nature and also our culture. The great civilizations have evolved, peaked and diminished and replaced by other. We have come too far from Stone Age to Industrialisation.
But have we learnt from the past.
Heritage is not eternal may it be tangible or intangible. We are custodian of this heritage just to pass over to future generation. The day we realize this we will care for it.
